Your XC looks too low to be an XC . Did you lower the car somehow ? Or is it a V70 that looks like an XC :)

ohh I see, thanks , but I still would not understand why you'd lower an XC since it's supposed to be that high off the road :)

your wife's lucky ,

I doN't know why but I still can not get used to those AUDI style lamps !!

I am never a fan of how a car is supposed to be :p

I can see that :) :)

In 1994 , I had an 1993 Opel Astra GSI , I guess only the Europeans on this forum would recognise this car. I don't think this car ever made it to USA ...

It was an Opel Astra GSI, 2 door Coupe, 2.0L , 150HP ,

I had modified everything on the car, I put on 17" Compomotive wheels (in 1994, 17" was quite big by then), stainless steel Magnex complete exhaust system, split fire spark plugs, K&N air filter, front & rear strut braces, 30mm lowered springs, koni adjustable suspensions, bigger disks and red brake calipers with a plasma tacho meter (glows green, see picture)

After these mods , my car was 167HP on the dyno and I could play around with BMW 320i's and my only true competitors were Ford Escort Cosworhts , Calibra Turbo's and BMW M3's by then :)

Here is a scanned picture of a scanned picture so the picture quality is not good. Those years there were no digital cams either ;)

Let's see what did I do to MY XC this week?

I washed it. I admired the way it looks all clean and shiney.
Then I cursed at it when that Mother Effing *^!!@@ check engine light
popped up again. I also noticed I needed to put new tires on it
which I can't afford right now.

So that's what I did this week... admired & cursed at it... it's love.

Is that doable on an XC70 without a 2nd mortgage on the house?

Ordered an iMIV and cables for my iPod integration plan. I am a huge fan of audio books while driving and find the iPod the source that works best for me.

Hopefully the weather cooperates and I can get it installed before winter arrives.

As I have only had the car since Tuesday, I am still going over it for warranties.
All my engine issues were battery related. Because the car hadnt been driven in over 3 weeks, the battery was weak and almost flat. This generated a plethora of ECU spasms with over a dozen ridiculous OBD2 codes.

Highlight of the day - finding the retractable luggage netting tucked into the rear seats [thumbup]

After wasting several hours building a set of ramps (see below for details) I finally managed to do an oil & filter change, replaced 9 liters of mahogany brown transmission fluid with fresh M1-3309, cleaned the air box, and used compressed air and a shop vacuum to clean each and every pleat of the air filter (waiting for new filter and pollen filter from IPD.) The car runs great and shifts smoothly, as it should.

I built four (4) ramps, one for each wheel, thinking I could drive an AWD vehicle onto these blocks. I used clear 2X10 pine boards (broke my heart to use such nice wood, but it was available and it was free) and cut them into 16/18/20 & 22 inch lengths. I then nipped a 45 degree bevel off the leading edge of each, and screwed them together. Finally, I screwed a 2X2 block across the back edge of each ramp as a wheel stop.

I put one ramp under the front edge of each tire and tried (better to have tried and failed than not to have tried at all) to drive up on to the ramps. NOT! Frustrated but not about to give up, I remove the 'ramps' from the rear wheels and was able to easily drive the front end up the ramps to allow sufficient clearance to remove the belly pan and proceed with the fluid changes.

In hind sight, the ramps are too steep for all four wheels. I need to cut four 3-foot lengths of plank to decrease the angle & get all four wheels on blocks.
Or I could have gone to CT and purchased steels ramps. :o

Cheers
Jules

put in an IMIV Light Edition (no video or aux in jack) in my 2005 XC70 yesterday. Took only about 20 minutes to install second in chain with the sat radio. I love having the iPod connected directly (no awful FM transmitter here!) Sounds great. I might even cancel my sat subscription now that the ipod works so well.

Well over 300WHP. I'm refining my current tune now, then I'll dyno again. AWD dyno runs aren't cheap - $200+ in my area, so it's not a frequent event  Last dyno with the same hardware setup, but only running 16psi boost was 282WHP (Woth tune was too lean). My current tune is set for 23psi, with AFR's in the 12's.

yep :D

acutally with that boost gauge its a dual readout so I can watch the temp and boost at the same time , along with having the one rotate or both to show

Finally got software to park assist. I installed the hardware a couple of weeks ago. Worked like a charm.
Actually two softwares was needed, one for the AEM (for integration with the cars stereo system (mute etc), and one for park assist.

Then I downloaded software to get the car to recognize my new key, a KIR. I am impressed over myself to get it to work. A used KIR from a 2007 Volvo, now is fully functional in my 2003 XC70. Nice to get rid of the old key.. [happy]
