Volvo Cars Exceeds 2002 Total in First Ten Months

…records twelfth month of increased sales Irvine, CA (November 3, 2003) – Volvo Cars of North America, LLC. (VCNA) reports that its best October on record drives sales total past the total for all of 2002. With 10,887 units sold, Volvo records its twelfth consecutive month-over-month increase. For October, Volvo sales were 29 percent over the same period last year. “Sales were solid throughout the model lineup,” said Vic Doolan, VCNA President and CEO. “With several of our models, demand is exceeding supply. And in this extremely competitive environment that’s a positive position to be in. Led by our popular first SUV, the XC90, 2003 will be an impressive year for us,” Doolan said. October sales have pushed the year-to-date mark to 112,586 vehicles, which is 23 percent ahead of 2002. During October, the S60 sport sedan and C70 Convertible posted increased sales, while the XC90 continued to record strong sales of 3115 units despite supply issues. The XC70 showed extremely well, at 19.3 percent ahead of the previous year. With sales of the current S40 and V40 running down to plan, customer interest is building toward the launch of the all-new S40, due to make its North American debut at the Detroit auto show in January. The recent launch of the restyled S80 and S80 AWD has helped to strengthen sales across Volvo’s sedan range. Overall, sales for NAFTA (United States – including Puerto Rico,* Canada, and Mexico) were 12,009 units – up 26 percent compared to the same period in 2002. Volvo sales in Canada increased 11 percent for the month. VCNA, part of the Volvo Car Corporation of Gothenburg, Sweden, provides marketing, sales, parts, service, technology and training support to Volvo automobile retailers in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. The 2003 Volvo automobile line includes the XC90, the sporty S60 sedan – including the award-winning performance sedan – S60 R and its performance wagon counterpart – V70 R, the flagship S80 luxury sedan, versatile V70 wagon and rugged XC70 (Cross Country), the C70 convertible, and the compact S40 and V40 models. * U.S. results include Puerto Rico for 2003
