I have both a 2002 XC70 (V70XC) and a MY2010 XC60 3.0T ... went for the petrol XCX60 and not the diesel because of the turbo lag.
I agree that the XC60 handles much better than the XC70 but it could be because of mileage (and therefore suspension wear and tear) differences. FWIW, I run 235/60 Yokohamas instead of the 215/65 OEM size tyres on the XC70 - the same width as the XC60 - so the handling difference can not be ascribed to the tyres.
Now the clinch: As I had installed an Elevate (Autotech) tune on my XC70 (176 kW and 390 Nm, up from the standard 147 kW and 285 Nm) it is quite quick and performance-wise nicer to drive than the XC60 - even the 3.0T. Consequently, there is a Polestar upgrade on the XC60 in my future ...
