I have used drive shaft rebuilding companies for repair of difficult to replace and obsolete drive shafts, and with good results on vehicles that were more involved and complex than Volvo drive shafts. Try http://www.erievolvo.com/Volvo-Parts/ they carry a lot of XC parts

What wrong with the propeller shaft? Most common failure is the front CV joint. Boot+grease gets destroyed by the super hot catalytic converter over time. Center bearing and rear CV is usually good.

New CV joint kit is a under $100 at Colorado Drive Shaft, amazon, or ebay. Dorman PN is 982-501. Very easy DIY rebuild.
