Default VIDA 2012B VMWare Player Image

    Hello All,

I've made a VMWare Player image of VIDA 2012B. This means there is NO INSTALL needed, so don't need to setup a separate computer or worry about VIDA screwing things up. In fact VIDA runs on a completely separate (Virtual) computer from your main computer this way.

It's all setup and ready to go. I encourage you to mirror/send this anywhere as I don't know how long these links will stay up for.

VMWare Player is a free download from www.vmware.com/products/player . Note this means the 'untrusted' VIDA DOES NOT run on your actual computer, it runs in a 'virtual' one inside of VMWare Player.

The first 6 are 1.00GB files, the last one is 95MB.

You will have to use 7Zip to extract them once all of them are downloaded. The exacted file takes about 14GB of disk space.

This is a AWSOME. It is the best way to give someone a "virtual" computer with all the necessary software installed properly. This saves everyone the installation headaches. I gave a nearby Volvo owner the samething... a VM image (virtual box in my case). It is really the best way! Kudos! Minus a few software licensing issues of course

Didn't know VMWare was free now also besides VirtualBox.

And for those running Parallels, you can still download this image and convert it using Parallels built-in conversion tool for VMFusion images.

Unfortunately, there is not a version of VMWare Player available for OSX (i.e. Mac), just Win 7/8 and Linux.

Hi guys, has anybody actually tried to download and install VIDA 2012B VMWare Player Image that bobthebuilding100000 supplied? I downloaded it but only the first file can be unzipped by 7zip. I downloaded the second file again with no luck unzipping. "Can not open file.........."

Bob, thank you very much for this. I have it working on my netbook running XP home SP3 and the laptop running Vista Home SP2.

    Hi all
I have tried to use this with No luck.
To begin with, I download the VMware player, This seams to go ok until I try and run it.
A wizard pops up asking to load an Operating system. This is when I get stuck, where and how do I load the OP system.

Next, I go to the Mega site for the other 7 files as instructed. but nothing is easy, as it asks me, to Download to my comp or to a "Cloud".
I dropped them down to my comp, but again thats as far as I get.

So can anyone explain IN Short Small words and instructions, How I go about getting them all working together.
    cheers,
    Joe.

Silverback02 From what I can make of this at 0120hrs ( My UK time) and quite well setup on Whisky and ready for bed! What you need to do first is download each of these files to a known, and easy to find target on you computer hard disk, ie the desktop. Then you need to download a copy of 7Zip file extractor utillity, which is free from some sources. The files downloaded are compressed to make them smaller, so downloading is faster and uses less data/bandwidth. There may be md5 hash values for the downloaded files - these enable a check to be conducted so that you can confirm the file downloaded with complete fidelity (google how to ) unless they did, they will not work. Unzip each file to a known address on the hard drive ie C:\my _Virtual_machine, just my random name. The 7zip file has a "help" go use it. If all goes well you will finally have the complete virtualisation, which (provided your machine has a decent amount of RAM memory, ie 4GB or more, should run fine. Hope this helps.

I am amazed to find that the VM Vida files posted by bobthebuilding100000 are still available. I found these so good I posted them to dropbox in my public folder some weeks ago. They have seemingly had so many hits that yesterday dropbox informed me they have made the public folder inaccessible! So much for cloudspace!
