Default hello from Chile and I need help with damn ATF 3309 and Type IV !!

    Hi guys

let me introduce to you. i´m Monochamus, and I live in Chile. I´m owner of a XC70 2006 AT 2.5T and is my second volvo. First, I had an 1998 V40 European specs 2.0 N/A AT . it was a proud example of volvo´s quality.

sorry about my english . i am doing this without googletranslator.

well, here is my question and request your knowledge please!! .

My xc70 with 75.000 miles on it. I bought it with a gentle tug in 2nd gear when the ATF turns hot. And sometimes it has a little delay to enter to D or R.
I have read this forum and is recommended change the ATF . I looked my dipstick and the ATF colour is brown but no black. I have not checked when hot !
but the colour says to me "change it NOW" ; so this is the question:
Mobil in Chile says that ATF mobil 3309 is OBSOLETE !! (unbelievable for me- it appears a thousand times on the web) and I can´t found the ATF 3309.
I have read that TOYOTA TYPE IV works fine on the car transmission AW 55-51sn
someone here in the forum used it? can talk about results?? it works fine ?
the original volvo ATF is a stole!!
please, give me trust in the type IV because i can´t find the 3309 and the car is still parked without use. the only available here is the type IV.
or can you recommend anything else that works fine in my car??

    many thanks in advance

    Monochamus

Thanks for your quick answers... Do you suggest the gibbons method to change the ATF?

YES! The Gibbons method is the absolute best, most efficient, most thorough way to way to change out almost all the old fluid. It's more gentle than a "shop flush" and won't disturb any deposits that might break loose or damage delicate seals in this transmission. It is important after you change the fluid, to have someone with a Vida-Dice unit reset your Transmission Control Module (TCM) and fluid counter and perform a transmission adaptation procedure. This will let the transmission adapt and "re-learn" how to shif with the new fluid. Many people on this forum install a Magnefine filter on the upper transmission hose, but I haven't done that one yet. If you're interested in doing that, just search for "Magnefine Filter" on this forum for a wealth of info.

You can trust the T-IV. I've used it many times. There is a case of it on my garage floor for the XC in my signature.

    You should be fine
Change the fluid. have the dealer reset the fluid counters (necessary) and you should be OK
