Unhappy When it rains it pours

Consider yourself in good company Raynald as I recently had both rear wheel hubs replaced on our rig. Its once stellar record has now been plagued by a variety of issues - over a three month period - including a leaking bevel gear and turbo return line, the replacement of ignition coils, both front control arm bushings, and the rig is now in need of having both rear brake shoes replaced.

Hope and pray that nothing else comes up when I bring it in for its scheduled 132,000 km service.

Oh! dear... Me too... And a leaking rack and pinion... Being in love with a Swedish lady can be depressing and... expensive!

What's making me angry is the fact that things that breaks on this car are usually part that will hold quite well on other cars I owned. For instance, rear brake pads have been replaced just once and I still have the same rotors.

On second thought, if the brakes are still good it's maybe because the hubs themselves are slowing the car thus preventing brake wear...

Oh, well... Can't wait to see the bill...

Maybe that is what is contributing to everyone's poor mileage!

    Lightbulb Update

I had the rear wheel bearings replaced once again à 144,000 km last May.

Looking at the invoice, I realized that te price has change dramatically since 2004 when it was replaced the first time at 91,000 km. At that time, they were CAD$699.00. Today: CAD$337.00. Less than half the price !!!

I asked the service guy: "Did you rip me off the first time around?" It seems that Volvo has changed supplier (to or from SKF?) since then, maybe a sign that the orginal supplier wasn't as good as it should have been....

Hope these new ones will last longer....
