Here's a short QuickTime movie of My XC70 In The Snow performing in central south Norway during my tour after FDC pickup. The XC70 seemed to have no problems accelerating strongly without any sign of slippage in this white stuff I was very impressed with it.

Here's another short movie showing some of the snow weather encountered between Oslo and Voss -- wind was blowing hard from the left with ice and snow covering the road at times -- XC70 showed no signs of trouble with these type road conditions.

Here's another showing a typical mountain tunnel and some narrow roads and hairpin curves just before reaching Voss.

    Regards -- Barry Sharp

Cool clips Barry. I trust that the DSTC sensors worked like a charm on many of the twisty stretches.

I keep watching your slides & movies--enjoying them--question I have is that after your experiences in snow & icy roads---when & what conditions would cause one to have to use chains?---merv

deep snow that's heavy & wet. If the snow was bumper height, I'd want z-chains. I found the nose/skid plate of the car kept lifting the car up and it caused me to bottom out once. This car is awd not 4wd and I think chains would help when you really need to push through.

ARRRGGGGHHH... I've got to get a broadband connection! Unfortunately, not available where I'm at.

    Barry,
Thanks for the clips - they were worth the download time to see the XC70 handle the inclement winter weather.
