    Default Brake Pedal Question

04 XC70. My brake pedal has always been engaging lower than my Honda. Like past the halfway point. Not sure if this is normal for Volvos. I flushed the brake fluid maybe 3 years ago. It got a bit better but still engaging lower than I prefer. Does everyone else have the same situation? Could this mean that the master cylinder maybe worn out? Or brake booster maybe? Thanks in advance.

The XC 70 has always had a bit more pedal travel than other cars. However, it is a very common mistake to get the caliper return spring, mounted incorrectly, leading to a soft pedal and excess travel.

Search for threads on this, and make certain that your springs are correctly installed in the caliper.

Hmmm....now I have to check if I actually have the springs. I don't remember putting any like that in when I worked on it last. But it's been a while.

Update: The caliper return springs are there and installed properly.
