Unhappy Imported post

I can't find an anwer for these things in the manual so I'll try my luck here.

What is that faint red dot to the right of the temperature reading? Does it light up when something happens? Is this where the snowflake lights up?

There is a small slot on the back door to the right of the trunk latch. What is that for? It's on trunk door and it doesn't line up with anything on the bumper.

The back door opens kind of high for people under 5' feet tall. Is there anything that can be done for shorter people and kids to help them close the trunk door?

1. Faint red dot == Snowflake symbol that will light up at around 36 def F. It warns you of pending road ice conditions. I believe it will extinguish at 28 or so.

2. Small slot on rear hatch ? don't know and ironically I was looking at this yesterday.

3. 5' or shorter -- Hmmmm -- You can grab the hatch door on its side and pull downward. I do this at times. This is not a good soln but there's not a good alternative that I can think of. You may ask your dealership if they have any advice for you. You might think of attaching a small 12" rope with T-handle that allows you to pull hatch door down a bit, then tuck the rope handle to back interior of hatch door with a velco tape soln, and then close using the grap hand slots.

Post back if Service Dept comes up with a good 5' and shorter soln.

I am also interested in adjusting door opening lower. I have to hold it now to keep it from hitting my garage door when I have the car in the garage, don't want to chip the edge of my new car.

kersti:

Nail/attach some scrap carpeting to the door where the edge of the hatch makes contact. This should allay your concern some.

Is the garage door horizontal (ie fully opened) when this situation presents itself? If it's when door is closed can the car be moved any further in? This is my situation and I have a tire stop that allows the hatch to fully open with garage door closed -- mainly to allow me to open the hatch and let the dogs out without them running off without even a "good bye"

Barry,
Loved the "gathering" film, I wish I could have been there. Yes it is with the garage door open so I guess I will need to glue some carpeting up. I don't have enough room to open the hatch with the garage closed, wish I did. At least I am at the end of a cul d'sac. My dogs come bounding out of the house and down the driveway before turning and coming back to jump in to the car. By the way they are getting more used to the idea of jumping in the back and staying there but I haven't trusted them stay while I leave the car for any time. How are your terriers doing?

Kersti:

My Terriers are loving the car. Chole jumps in immediately (and jumps out immediately but restrained by her 4 1/2 foot leash ). Teddy will jump in at times but is quite suspicious of the sound of the hatch closing and retreats as far away into the rear cargo area that he can when I close the hatch door. We travelled some 500 miles with them in the back over past weekend and they were very very comfortable and absolutely no trouble. My wife has placed a very soft lambs wool padding that fits nicely and extends almost 80% up the sides. On top of this and to one side she has placed a 2" thick bed padding for either of them to use. On the trip this past weekend they both huddled together on the thicker pad . Both can sit up and view the scenery easily thru the rear windows as the sills are just at the right height. The two 4 1/2 foot leashes are a MUST for when stopping at the freeway rest stops as the cars coming and going would be a menace to my Terriers if they were to leap out unrestrained and run every where -- especially when they see the other four legged dogs.

I'm pleased you liked the 'gathering' movie.
