New stuff this time. We've updated our reliability stats for the V70 / XC70 to include owner experiences through the end of 2014. Plus we've added reliability trends graphs. These indicate how a model's reliability has changed as it has aged, and how different model years performed when the same age.
Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:
2007 V70 / XC70: 65, moderate
2006 V70 / XC70: 96, high
2005 V70 / XC70: 104, high
2004 V70 / XC70: 86, moderate
2004 V70 R: 149, high, very small sample size
2003 V70 / XC70: 125, high, small sample size
2002 V70 / XC70: 116, moderate
2001 V70 / XC70: 85, moderate
We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:
2006 V70 / XC70: 44, 18
2005 V70 / XC70: 38, 10
2004 V70 / XC70: 39, 7
2001 V70 / XC70: 40, 4
We'll have further updates in May and in August. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be.

Makes no sense that 2006s are so much higher than 07s or 05s, they're essentially the same vehicle with the same problems

2007 V70 2.5T White/Oak, 112K miles. My daily driver and GORGEOUS
2000 V70R wife's. Won't sell, now at 148K miles !! and still (almost) perfect.
2000 S70 GLT SE with 29,000 miles!!! A time capsule, V70R front bumper, Volans, etc. SOLD!!! (I Will regret selling this!)
Unfortunately it's probably the 2005 that's out of whack. It used to be higher, and in the next update will probably be similar to the 2006 again.
The 2007 might be more reliable than earlier years, but then it's also a little younger. Many car parts seem designed to last ten years.
