1998 volvo v70 xc awd bevel gear two choices what is different

Hi my bevel gear is gone jacked up all four rear drive shaft turns easy vi# split I have newer vi# what is different between the two
can I use the older one by switching something over or no chance at all thanks I like to use recycled parts when I can my last volvo rusted out with well over 500 k must be doing something right thanks charlie

I have one from a 1998 but I do not know how to tell if it is right for your application

Well.
You need to know the VIN of the car it came out of, and the BUYER needs to know the VIN of the car it goes into...
Then either call your Volvo dealer of someone who knows which goes where and you find out if it will work or not!
