    Default Lift kit for XC70

I don't see a thread about lifting kits.... I did see that IPD speaks of putting a 'lift kit' in their one-off Baja prototype XC.

Is there a kit on the market? Other prototype examples? ....such as aftermarket air or hydraulic controls on ride height?

Am I the only one who would consider installing such a kit?

I'm glad the XC I have has the clearance it does, but I find myself in situations where more is, or would be, desirable..... (4 to 5 inches more would be great, ......( oh, ...and no, ....I'm not in need of a MonsterTruck or a Rockhopper.)

......(just dreaming of air, or hydraulic, controllable ride height for when conditions may warrant just that little bit more additional 'lift'...)......

My comparison chart, compiled from Audi and Volvo websites, shows:

    Ground clearance:
    XC70 8.2"
    Allroad 5.6" - 8.2"

    Weight:
    XC70 3699
    Allroad 4244

    Mileage:
    XC70 19/26
    Allroad 16/22

    Wheelbase / total length
    XC70 108.7 / 186.2
    Allroad 108.5 / 189.4
    (i.e. Allroad has more overhang)

My biggest problem with the Audi is the weight. A lot of that must be from the adjustable suspension. However, I have not driven one -- my son says the one his friend owns is great.

Oh yes, the original question: I would not raise it. I love it the way it is and would buy a 5 year-old 4-runner or Tahoe if I wanted to have more truck.

Ohlins makes a strut for the XC70 that raises it by 40mm.
I can't find the side by side comparision photos from my previous thread since it dates back to 2004.

But for what it's worth, here's the link:

I'll look for more info on the struts... thanks

....I'm happy enough with the XC, the allroad appears to be maybe more problematic rather than less when you are looking for overall clearances. Thanks but....

...I'll just continue to dream of an adjustable lift kit.. maybe some enterprising entrepreneur will one day put one together.

    thanks again all....

    Default You are not alone...

BAD Swede makes a 52mm lift (10" total ground clearnace) - "just right" is the look on the prototype (04' XC70 w/BFG All Terrain KOs!) They just started, been primarily an engineering company...

Can you say "no Volvo Parts"? Look closely - there's a set of Dana axles mounted on leaf springs both front and rear on this rig...

Volvo parts would break under the load of those big tires/wheels...I wonder what frame reinforcing was done...

IIRC, the drivetrain is modified from a 6 wheel VOLVO C303.
