Default breather system dealer service warranty

I had my crankcase ventilation box replaced at dealership about 100k miles ago.
Is the parts/ labor covered under the lifetime warranty or is this considered a wear and tear item?

I have some oil on the ground and there is positive crankcase pressure again / failed the glove test. Seems like it’s due for 2nd replacement.

This is for my 04 XC70.

The warranty coverage is a question for the dealer that installed the parts.

If you have positive, crankcase, pressure again, it’s time to have the system repaired again. One of the critical parts to look at is the actual passage from the lower connection on the flame trap into the engine Sump itself. It’s about a quarter inch square cast into the block.

This is a picture, looking up into the block at the PCV oil return passage. This picture was taken with the engine sump removed. Circled in red is that oil passage. This car was maintained at the dealer and the oil was changed on time.

But the oil required in this car is more than just a viscosity. It really needs to meet a better European standard for long drain interval. People say synthetic OK most of those are synthetic, but what you really need is something that meets ACEA A3/B4.

Failure to use an oil whose additives can withstand the long drain interval, results in PCV system failures from this passage, getting plugged up.

If your car is ready for its second PCV system, I would strongly encourage you to remove this song, be certain that passage is clear.
