    Default What could it be

    2004 XC70 ~ 155k

Just started noticing this week. At higher speeds and when it shifts down there's a bit of jerking like maybe its going from 4 to 3 to 4. And tonight, as I was very slowly backing into my driveway I also noticed an intermittent mild jerk. I'm hoping its not the transmission. There is no message on the dash. About 3 years ago I replaced the coil packs because it was misfiring. I replaced the spark plugs while I was at it. Thats about all the engine related work done. Also about 3-4 years ago, I replaced the transmission fluid. Any thoughts?

Update: I was reading from other posts that at this mileage this is most likely bad engine mounts. I'll have to do some physical and visual verification to make sure. Any suggestions on how to go about it would be appreciated.

If the engine mounts are original, it’s way past time. Do all 5. Get the kit from FCP Euro or IPD.

The lower torque mount, in particular, doesn’t last long. IPD sells a polyurethane bushing for the small end that is longer lasting.

I wouldn’t do any other polyurethane mounts. Way too much NVH.
