    I am confident that the timing belt is correct. I only mention it since it coincided with the the first incident and you never know if someone on the forum might see some connection.
    I am also discounting the ETM since the one I swapped in is known to work, hasn't blown a fuse and the current symptoms don't seem to be ETM-related. I was wondering if the excess current draw somehow caused some damage to something else? That seems unlikely though since the purpose of the fuse is to protect other circuits.
    The ETM fuse doesn't seem to serve other components.
    No obvious wire damage that could cause a short either.

    If you've stopped blowing ETM fuses, suggest to start a new thread under a new title. Also, your chance of success keeping this car running without a DiCE/VIDA diagnostic system is approaching zero. Problems have to swatted down as fast as they come up, and correctly, to enjoy owning an '01 Volvo.
