    Default "Time for regular service light" at 75k

    The "Time for regular service light" came on today, at 75,000 miles. We do not have a authorized dealer/mechanic on island, so I would like to know what should be done at this service so I can pass it on to the local mechanic when I take it in.

    Thank you,
    Patrick

    Not much, an oil and filter change, inspect the car, torgue suspension.
    Check and fill all fluids, etc
    Should be in your owners manual, if you don't have one either download one or order one from Volvo for 25 bucks

    Hello Ragman,
    I have a pdf version of the owners manual, but I see no means to post it (can't attach documents to mails).
    If you would like me to send it (4Mbytes) please let me know your email address by PM.

    OK, I have tried to reset the 'The for Regular Service' light many, many times now following the procedure listed here, to no avail. Am I missing something?

    1. Turn key to position 1
    2. Hold reset button for odometer
    3. Turn key to position 2 within 2 seconds of step 2

    Is there something else?

    Thank you,
    Patrick

    Patrick,

    This is one of those things were you have to precisely follow the steps. The following is a cut & paste from the resource Willy referenced:

    Resetting the service reminder indicator (SRI), model years 2002-
    The service reminder indicator (SRI) informs the driver that it is time for the car to be serviced.
    The text message is displayed for 120 seconds each time the ignition is switched on.
    Proceed as follows to reset the service reminder indicator (SRI):
    * Ignition position I
    * Press and hold in the reset button for the trip odometer
    * Ignition position II.
    Note! Turn the key to position II within 2 seconds.
    * Hold the reset button for the trip meter pressed in until the original value has been reset.
    Note! For all vehicles from the 2003 model year a general yellow lamp will light when the reset
    button must be released.
    * Release the reset button for the trip odometer within 4 seconds. The instrument gives an
    audible signal when resetting has succeeded
    * If the trip meter is already reset the reset button should be held in for a minimum of 10
    seconds and a maximum of 14 seconds.
    Note! If the reset button for the trip odometer is not released within 4 seconds, the service reminder indicator (SRI) is not reset.

    Don't forget to do the service first before resetting the SRI. The 75k Service also requires a minor vehicle inspection.

    Default Did the reset wrong and got results

    Oddly enough I was doing the order incorrectly, got an audible and a number 58 came up on the message display. I put my 2001 V70XC into position 1 and pressed the trip button till the service light flashed (yes that was what I was doing wrong not putting into position II), but when I let go with 5 seconds I got that number "58"
