Default 01 V70 XC - forget how to ID Factory Code and Chassis #

So I need to replace the fuel filter on the wifey mobile 01 V70 XC of course there's 2 possibilities for selecting the correct filter, which relies on me knowing what Factory Code (1 or 2) and which Chassis number the car is. More importantly relies on me knowing how to find which code etc. the car is. I ordered and replaced the fuel filter years ago but since then it has slipped my mind on how to find these blasted numbers so I know which filter to order. And, I can't locate receipt from last filter order.

I'm sure this is a simple task, but just totally slipped my mind and after an hour of searching the inter-web I'm getting nowhere - HELP?!

Never heard of different fuel filters but if you're buying a Volvo filter just give the parts dept the VIN
Chassis code is the bottom line on the VIN plate on the inside of the left fender

I had an early 01 V70 T5 which had lots of previous gen parts (and recall fuel filter order asked for factory + chassis code). Maybe earlier V70XC was similar? Anyhow, here is how you decode the VIN. Looks like you need the last 7 digit. First is factory code and last 6 is chassis #.

Howard, OMG! Thank you. The "younger" we get the more our memory improves... I remembered it was "soooo" simple, of course forgetting what and how was the problem. Now I can order the correct fuel filter.

    Thanks again.
