Brake light replacement bulb

Any guidance. On dash board of 2000 V70 XC brake light indicator would consistently come out when brake pedal is depressed, and then no longer occurred after three days. Reappeared after a week and now remains. Puzzling apart of this is that the two brake lights are functioning i.e. are lit when pedal is depressed. Bulbs installed were 1156LL ( long life) type. Replaced them with new 1156LL bulbs but the console bad stop light indicator continues to come on. Should I try using plain 1156 as they probably have lower filament resistance and therefore would not mimic an open circuit? Any guidance and/or experience on solving this problem would be appreciated. Thanks, ...Joe

How about the center brake light? The bulb out system cares about that one also.

You're probably right and I feel stupid for not thinking about that third brake light. Will verify tomorrow and let you know. Thanks till then. ...Joe
