    Default 2015.5 XC70 T5 Drive-E rattle/knock noise upon acceleration?

I own a 2015.5 XC70 T5 with the Drive-E engine. About 1,000 miles after my 10,000 mile service, I have started to notice a rattle coming from the front end upon hard accelerations. It's intermittent but reproducible with enough accelerations. I first noticed it going uphill and accelerating to pass someone. It's a brief rattle (about 1 second or so) and sounds a bit like shaking a paint can or a coffee can with marbles. Again, really brief but noticeably loud. It sounds like it's more on the driver side. I've recorded it and attached a google drive link below. My phone was out the window so pardon the wind, and I took another recording with the windows up.

I took it to my dealer and they claimed they were unable to reproduce it, however after I signed the work order upon check out the tech and service advisor admitted to being able to replicate it but threw their hands upon trying to fix it. I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?

    Phone out the window recording:

    Windows closed, phone inside car:

Sounds like it's coming from one of the exhaust hangars or a heat shield ...cause I had a similiar issue with my 04. Most noise complaints here come from the suspension when going over bumps...yours is the first for this.

Thank you, Forkster!! I have an appointment with another dealer in a couple weeks since I was blown off by my usual dealer. I can fix, build, repair, diagnose anything on a bicycle, but I don't have the means to work on a car. Is it likely that they're loose? The car is just over a year old and just had its 10,000 mile service. Would they have removed anything else during an oil change, etc. that could also be the culprit?

Not likely - unless they didn't tighten on the underbelly protetion pan properly.

Still no resolution after going to another dealer for service. I made a video to show the issue. Rattle happens at 7 second mark accelerating up a ramp just below 3000rpm

The noise is not in you're head my friend. I have a 2015.5 XC60 T5 DriveE. I can produce the noise when I jump on the gas going up a hill. I'm almost positive its coming from the transmission. The noise is what you get when you pair a under powered engine to a highly sophisticated 8 speed transmission. I haven't even tried taking it to my dealer because the only person that would know how to fix it would be a Volvo engineer. My fix is that I've changed my driving habit to feathering or ease into the gas when going up a hill. I know easier said then done. Since my change I can avoid that horrible noise from happening.
