    Hi Greg,

I drove with the M & S Scorpians just over a year before opting for a set of Nokian Haakapallita 'Q's this winter. I found the Pirelli's worked reasonably well in wet/slushy snow but quite challenging to drive on when the temperature dipped to well below freezing conditions. Not sure what part of the country you're from, but here in the Alberta prairies, the mercury has dropped -25 to -30 celsius in recent days. That's when the softer rubber and superior siping of the Nokian's really make a difference.

If you do decide on true winter radials, check to make sure the siping in the tread extends all the way down into the tread blocks. Full depth siping will ensure that you get the maximum amount of traction life out of your tires.

    Other winter tires to consider:
    Toyo Observe G-02
    Gislaved Nord Frost
    Michelin Arctic Alpin
    Goodyear UltraGrip Ice
