Exclamation XC90 3.2 Rear End Auxiliary Drive Failure help needed

    Hey Guys

So i was driving home from work today, and suddenly i hear a high pitched sound coming from the engine, i pullover to inspect it but i couldn't locate the source of the sound, shortly after i continue driving i get a message service "Power system service urgent" it immediately occurs to me that my R.E.A.D bearings must have gone bad. i pulled over a second time and observed that the alternator wasn't rotating (but it spins and makes noise if i turn it with my hand). i was able to drive it home safely. i have searched the web looking for a replacement unit but i cant seem to find any. Getting one in my locality is next to impossible except i buy a new engine.
Please i would appreciate what ever information is available on how i can purchase this unit.

    Very many thanks

I had a case recently where the Sprocket that drives the alternator (#46) came loose on it's shaft. (#42 is the alternator pulley) The sprocket is a wedge fit on the shaft - the sprocket was chewed up on the inside (from spinning loose) and would not tighten down. A new sprocket and removal of transferred material on the shaft solved the problem.

Thank you very much sir, this was exactly my problem, i leaped for joy finding out my R.E.A.D wasn't bad. It took me about 4hours and a lot of cursing to complete.
