Default 01 v70 xc brake pads, rotors

what do you guys recommend for brake pads and rotors? I saw Brembo and akebono in a few threads. How do I know what size to get? Is 11 inch the factory standard?

I've tried Akebono, Volvo OEM, and Napa Premium. Best pad was Napa Premium on this Volvo and every other car I've used it on (01 V70 T5, 05 V70XC, 03 Rav4). Perfectly linear braking power and no dust. OEM is way grabby, Akebono has least braking power of these 3.

Brembo is good rotor choice. I recently read about people using cheap OPPARTS rotors without any problem. They say just go with good pad. But stick with Brembo if you want tried and tested on this car.

I know its surprising Napa premium should do so well, I've been amazed on by its performance on every car I've used it on. All the drivers comment how much they love their new brakes.

My XC has 11 inch. The T5 has 12.

But, the change is easy, if you get new caliper brackets and rotors. So, best to measure your rotors...

Thanks. I may try the Napa premium. Was going to order pads and rotors from fcp euro...I'm assuming I have 11 inch. Seems like the 12 inch are upgrades and not factory standard. I just have an XC...it's a light turbo. Gotta replace my struts in the next 2 weeks too.

The rotors show rusted surface in no time, unless it is Zimmerman Z-Coated.

I have tried several, but found JRL's advise most satisfactory for safety, wear, and smooth stopping.
Akebono over Zimmerman Z-Coated is worth your money. It has 30,000 miles on it, looking for 50+.

I say, worn caliper will take away the joy of new pads and rotor. Replace aging caliper to maximize your $$$.

I've used Euro Ceramic on two Saabs and the XC70. I like them.

I'm glad you guys are familiar with these brands...I would have never known Euro Ceramic was the same as Akebono. I'm going to go ahead and get the Napa Premium pads and brembo rotors..trying to see who has the least expensive rotors. Thanks for all your responses.

what do you think about the rotors that napa sells? It says their rotors are zimmerman brand. They're expensive though.

Zimmerman makes good rotors, but pricey...

In addition to FCP Euro, I would take a look at TireRack.com too. I've managed to get brakes there for a reasonable price.
