99 XC stumbling at lower rpm

Wifes Xc - been running great for a long time now - all of a sudden, check engine light and stumble at 1000-2000 rpm, like not on all cylinders - upper rpm fine (feels fine) Car drives and will downshift well. A strange smell is present, no heating or oil issues. No a burny electrical smell - just a smell I do not recognize - Oil is clear.

Any ideas?

Never mind - I keep forgetting about coils - #5 coil was cracked at the base. Easy one
