    For any of you who think they can replace their timing belt and think they can get away with leaving the original tensioner to save money, please read this thread of mine.
    This applies to P2 cars too

    Thanks for posting ! I think it's best to change all parts when doing a TB job.

    Boy are you lucky...your description of the noise gave me flashbacks to when the tensioner shredded in my 98 back at 155K in 2007 as a result of it not being changed along with the belt just before I bought the car at 105K.

    Yeah, no s**t! (I'm think I'm entitled to one friggen break, nothing else has gone right lately)!
    Just about ready to go for a test drive.

    Serp belp also got damaged a bit, it's making some noise.
    We put it back on (as I didn't have another around), but will pick up a new one later today.
