It could be a intermittent code which is still stored even if the CEL disappeared. Get the codes read to give you a idea why.
2000 Silver V70 XC SE - 153,000 miles and counting...
Mostly stock - IPD HD TCV - IPD HD coils
Abad ignition coil will do that sometimes. Show a fault and then dissapear. Like said previously have the code read and see if there is a stored one....

It will be stored in the computer
Sometimes a gas cap code will go off after the cap has been re-secured
(not always but I have seen this happen).
Also a quick misfire for whatever reason can cause a code but will go away if it was a quick misfire and for whatever reason the car is now running nominally again
(Stored code has to be read by Volvo, a small scanner will not show it)
So my Equus 3140 Innova scanner will not read stored codes?
Dang!
Not if it's not showing, then it would be stored in the system
Only VIDA can read a STORED code
