    Default Heated seat repair

    All,
Last winter the drivers seat in my wife's '99 XC developed a hot spot under the left thigh area, which progressively got worse (it got so hot I got worried about burns), and then the seat heater failed completely. I'm assuming the element is toast.
Is it possible to replace the element, and are there any DIYs out there? I haven't come up with much in my searches.
    TIA!
    The current fleet:
    2006 Volvo XC90 T5
    1992 Audi S4
    2007 525xi
    1988 VW Scirocco 16v (autocrosser)

I am not sure about possibility to change the heating element in the seat but i think it is possible. However from my own personal experience you can buy a nice used seat for $50-80 range.(Sometimes less if the skin is damaged..but you can use the leather covers from your own seat and transfer them.)
plus taking into consideration how long it might take to replace the element, its cost...i would better spend 30 min for an entire unit swap(4 bolt and 3 wire harnesses if i am correct)
