Default Crossbar question - need measurements!

Just recently found a pair of factory Volvo crossbars (made by Thule) on craigslist. Seller says they are for the 98-2000 XC model. I own a 2002 xc70 and am wondering if anyone knows whether they will fit the factory side rails. The seller wasn't sure. Anyone know for sure or know who to check with? Or can someone with a 1st gen. xc measure the distance between your siderails so I can compare that width to mine?

Thanks in advance for any help!

It's variable width. At the front, the insides are 44 inches apart, towards the rear, they are 39.5 inches apart. The brackets for the crossbars should be adjustable to accommodate the variable width.

They won't fit. In the US the width of V70 crossbars changed in 2001 so you need crossbars for a 2001 or later car. There is one obscure exception: in Europe they changed to the new body style in 2000 so European 2000 crossbars will fit your 2002. There is very little adjustment in the length of the Volvo crossbars.

I have a 2000 and a 2007 . The cross bars for my 2000 did not fit my 2007. Both were Volvo purchased. That might not be the case for you, but it was for me. They were not wide enough.
