Soooooo my local Volvo dealer, whom I feel are pretty high on the highway robbery side of pricing, want $680 to replace my control arm bushings, followed of course by the alignment for another $120. Is this high?
My '03 just rolled past 203k miles.

Yeah...that's highway robbery...
I replaced the arms on the T5, did the balljoints at the same time. Parts were under $400. Labor took me 2 hours. Alignment was $99.
So, your dealer is getting $400 more than I spent to do the same job. I suspect the parts price is very high...IIRC, the arms were about $135 from discount volvo...what did the dealer price you out for parts? Is he doing the balljoints too?

Wasn't a detailed estimate, just the verbal they gave me. Brought the car in for roaring noise, turned out to be rear wheel bearings. had them replace before I spent time reviewing the forum. $1007. including tax. Ouch. Nicest guys in the world, but just unbelievably over the top on their service pricing. I normally have a small local Volvo only guy handle my car but he didn't get the bearings. Thought the noise was in the angle drive and didn't want to go there. Bummer.
