    Default Road noise right rear

2004 XC70 road noise. Bad bearing, just need repacked? How much to fix?

Could be a bad bearing. Is it a constant drone? Does it get louder during left turns (right wheels and bearings are loaded more)?

They have to be replaced, no repacking as far as I know.

Dealer list is ~ $211.35USD, you can get it here for $173.31 USD, might be able to find it better elsewhere.

    Plus a couple hours labor.

My front left is going, looking at probably doing it myself or buy the part and getting my independent mech to do it.

I just replaced my right rear 3 weeks ago because of the drone at higher speeds. I did not notice it getting louder with left turns however it got significantly quieter with right turns; this it how I came to the decision of changing the passenger side rear bearing.

I paid around $215 with tax for a new bearing at the dealer. If you plan on doing the work yourself ask for new bolts as well. These bolts get angle tightened so might as well replace them if you are in there.

If you get the work done at a dealer you are probably looking at a couple of hours of labor on top of the cost of the part.
