Default Step out of car while running locks you out?

My '99 S70 didn't do this, so wondering if it was a change in Volvo's thinking over the years. If I get out of my 2007 XC70 while it's running (say to run back in house to grab something), the driver's door locks. No problem, just reach around from back door. BUT, if all the other doors were locked before getting out, you're now locked out. What's up with that?!

Oddly, I went back into the house to get my other key FOB wouldn't unlock the doors. So, I used the hard key.

Functions as designed? What's this "feature"?

I had a Chevy Trailblazer that used to do this intermittently (wasn't supposed to), I locked myself out several times. I eventually taped a spare key underneath.

My '05 XC70, it's never done it and I'm always checking because of my Trailblazer experiences. The Trailblazer (I'm sure w/ other cars too) would lock once the car starting moving, I assume as a safety feature. Maybe Volvo changed this in 06-07? Or maybe you have an issue like I did w/ my Chevy.

Do you have the 5 MPH locks enabled?
If so, they're glitching and need to be addressed.
If not, it's glitching even more so, it's not supposed to do this!
I leave mine running all the time while I get out and it does not lock on me

While engine is running, and it is in "P" the unlock door will remain unlocked even if it is closed behind you. But "N" would lock it.

Lovely wife, and a young driver are good source of discovering such.

I cannot lock the doors with the key in the ignition, running or not. If I hit the lock button, the doors lock, then a split second later, they unlock.

Everyone thanks, I just need to figure out what might be causing this - I had a feeling it wasn't right. I'll try disabling the auto lock and see if that affects this at all.
