Newbie: Which Engine do I have?

and confirmed that my VIN agrees with the knowledgeable members about which engine I have. The VIN also says has a 2 in the Gearbox position (which encodes M56, M59 manual gearbox). This is confusing because I definitely do not have a manual gearbox.

Does that little box down towards the bottom of the gearbox column on the VIN decoder mean that this position is meaningless in US and Canadian VINs? Is this because they all have the same automatic transmission? Thanks.

On the top of the transmission on the left side there is a decal showing the transmission type, serial number, etc...
