color change

I just bought a silver/green 04' XC70, wife has a 04' XC90 in the same color. In anything other than direct sunlight they look to be identical in color, but in the bright sun, my silver/green takes on gold and brown highlights, it almost looks like one of those color changing paints. is this normal?

They had two greens then Platinum Green and Crystal Green, similar...
Look under your hood (left fender plate) and see if they have they same paint code

i have an '04 xc70 in "crystal green metallic" and it definitely does not have the affect you describe. always looks the same.

However, Platinum Green DOES change color and the older the paint and the more it's buffed this efect shows more.
When I sold my 02 plat S60 in 05 after MANY wax jobs, under the right sunlight it changed from green to blue (or was it blue to green......?)

My java brown will be purple is the right light. Not just a hue, but dark plum purple.

Most of the time in low light it's a nice roasted coffee-bean brown.
