Mine sounds like an old-fashioned hand buzzer, or a mechanical clapper-style alarm clock with someone holding onto the bell.

    Default My boost valve too

I took mine to the dealer for the buzzing from the boost solenoid, they wrote it up as an exhaust check. Aparrently, we can't diagnose anything. Anyways, they replaced the boost solenoid, it still buzzes, just much quieter. It usually only behaves this way after very short start stop cycles of the motor, like backing it out of the garage and shutting it off.

How about the sound of a very low note on a harmonica? Still wondering if mine is muffed... Yeah, it happens after a short start/stop cycle, just like backing out of the garage.
'04 XC70, Ice White, Taupe. Original owner (196K miles as of may21). 6 wheel bearings, broken ignition switch, broken turbo downtube flange, failed throttle body, many warped rotors, and a myriad of weird crap. Still my favorite car ever.

Sounds like we should start up a Volvo musical group.

I don't know if your noise is normal. Maybe search at one of the gearhead intensive Volvo sites?

    Best success.
