    Default Endlinks-vs-Tie Rods

A quick question for my 2000 XC w/ 105,000 miles.

The front passenger side gets has a nasty squeaking sound, especially
going over bumps or pot holes in the road. The funny thing is that
after 10-15 minutes the noise doesn't seem to be as bad, or noticealble.

Would this be either the endlinks or the tie rods causing the problem, and
with the amount of miles on the car would it pay to replace them both to
acheive the tighter ride every one speaks of when replacing parts on the front end???

Let me know your thoughts, and I appreciate all the forums
    help from past threads.

I don't know how to answer that.
Your machanic will/can tell you if you need tie rods or sway bar links.
    You may need nothing.
What are your symptoms besides the seat as
A rattling seat has nothing to do with your suspension. However, from experience, at 100+K miles you probably need a front end rebuild.
(Noises can also be a cracked strut mount)

endlinks make a clicking noise over bumps.

tie rods don't tend to make noise unless they are really worn. You should notice alot of slop in the steering if thats the case.

upper strut mounts are probably the problem, but you'll never know unless you get it looked at.

    Thanks for all your help.

Guys, with 105,000 on the car, and recently having the timing belt taken care of, ABS, and the ETM done. Is there something I should be taking of, or I'm over looking to have done to the car in the not so distant future???

This car really has been solid for a few years now, and I want to make sure
    it stays that way.

Let me know what you think.

Suggest a complete suspension checkout (I just had to replace a strut bearing myself) and find that that is my "weak link" on this car.
    Change Transmission fluid
    Change bevel gear fluid

And drive it until you have a problem!

    Default Broken spring seat

    Hi,
I have had to replace the spring seats on both my 98 and 99 XC - I would hear a rattle in the front right (sounded like a tin can or something rattling) when I would go over bumps - I would not hear it much once I was rolling along ...usually just when I was starting out and would hit some bumps - You need to take out the struts and replace the seat at the top - Cost me $500 bucks - http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com - Has a good description and some pictures

    Cheers
