Default Things to do in Sweden this Summer...

There's more to Sweden than Volvo

It may be hard to believe, but Sweden has more to offer than just Volvos (we’re kidding of course). Sweden is a truly amazing country with a startling array of unique and memorable things to do. Through our Overseas Delivery program you can take delivery of your new Volvo in its birthplace and see some of what Sweden has to offer. Here’s a sample of what’s happening in Sweden in the coming months:

The Stockholm Jazz Festival, July 17-21 – Considered Sweden's greatest summer music festival, the Stockholm Jazz Festival offers a diverse line-up of artists from all over the world. The festival's main venue is located on the island of Skeppsholmen in the heart of downtown Stockholm, which is considered to be one of the most amazing settings in Europe. Many of the jazz worlds greatest have performed at this festival over the years, including Stevie Wonder, B.B. King and Lauryn Hill.

The Traditional Crayfish Party, August 1st – Some time in the beginning of the 20th century the Swedish crayfish stocks were being over-fished. To keep from extinction, restrictions were created limiting the fishing of this Swedish delicacy to just a few weeks in August. Since the Swedes had to wait for so long in the year to be able to enjoy their beloved crayfish, it was a great cause for celebration. This was the beginning of the crayfish party. This tradition lives on today and is celebrated the same way throughout the country. Along with the crayfish, the party usually includes schnapps, silly hats, singing and dancing and paper lanterns for decoration.

The Malmö Festival, August 17-24 – This festival is one of the most popular, well-attended and well-reputed Festivals in Europe. About 1.5 million visitors will attend this 8-day festival in Sweden's third largest city. The festival offers more than 250 live music performances and concerts on 15 stages, a wide range of international delicacies, cultural events, an amusement park, handicrafts for sale and lots more - and best of all: It's Free! The Malmö Festival started in 1985 and is the oldest city festival of its kind in Sweden. Over the years it has gone through many transformations, but the basic idea is the same - it should be accessible for everyone through being free of charge, reflect the cultural diversity of Malmö and offer something for all ages and tastes.

These are just a few events coming up in the summer months. There are many more experiences to be had and discoveries to make, when you visit Sweden yourself. So after you take delivery of your new Volvo, purchased through our Overseas Delivery Program, you now have some ideas for what to do next.

Default There's more to Sweden than Volvo???

What do you mean? Volvo factory, Volvo Museum, Volvo test track, Volvo safety center, or Volvo Bil across the street? Really yes there is more. If you do the OSD, of course drive around Goteborg, but then venture out into the country. You might just meet a local or two. You might find out that they are really nice people.
