there is something very wrong with my browser at the moment, I have probably answerd several times to your reply of my PM. However, the answers should all say about the same (I hope). Sorry for the...
I have sent you a PM, perhaps I can send you schematics.
When the fuse of the siren module is out, only power to the module is interrupted, the CAN-bus wiring is still in place. According to the schematics, it is the same connector that connects the UEM...
Hmm, perhaps this a EU option. Our XC70 had it, there was a button in the center console to
disable it so you could leave a pet in the car while the car is locked and the alarm active.
We also...
If I remember well, the horn only sounded for a number of alarm situations, but I can't remember which. I do know I did some tests, possibly the horn sounded when I put my arm in through the open...
The siren module is not just a loud horn, it is a CAN-bus member and as such contains electronics.
Some suffer from leaking batteries, mine had water damage. The module is located in the right ...
You can disconnect the siren module. If that solves the problem of the sunroof,
you know that the siren module is indeed the cause of the problem.
You don't have to replace the siren module,...
If the battery has caps, you can check the fluid level and top up if necessary.
You can also check wether the terminals are clean and wel connected to the battery poles.
After charging, while...
It depends on the damage that the leaking battery has caused. If the PC-board is intact, a new battery can be fitted. You have to break into the module and seal it afterwards. You can get to it ...
Nice installation, but aren't the lights placed too high to be really effective?
We liked it very much in our MY2004, more so than in our MY2018 XC90.
It wasn't perfect, eg. the system couldn't cope with certain conditions such
as drizzle in combination with high pressure...
I always had the lights on during the 13 years of ownership and
never experienced abnormal short lifetime of bulbs.
I remember that removing and replacing the bumper wasn't difficult, but since it's a big piece,
(replacing) it would have been more comfortable with the help of an assistant.
The OEM battery is indeed a good choice.
When we traded in our 13 year old MY2004 2.5T, the original battery was still healthy.
It was the biggest that would fit, I believe 84Ah (standard fitted...
You may try a bluetooth OBD dongle and Torque Pro as shown in this video:

The dongle in the video is quite big, I have a smaller model like this one:...
There is a way to replace the battery.
Some sensors can be opened to replace the battery, others have to be cut open.
You can find video's on Youtube.
I missed that you found the fuel pump relay, my mistake (again).
The electrics of the XC70 have been redesigned at some point, perhaps for MY2005.
So it could be misleading to associate something...
It should be located in the cabin (dark grey item on bottom row):
Me too, but one never knows, (and one won't know anymore if it happend )
Just kidding, you are right, it isn't something you want to be confronted with.
My partner and I are volunteers in...
Apparently I am not completely senile (yet), what a relief [cool2]
That's what I think/thought should happen.
But now you make me doubt if this wasn't the case with the 940 and not with the XC70 :o
Perhaps someone else can confirm, I don't have the XC70 anymore,...
When you turn the key before trying to start the engine, do you then hear the fuel pump running?
If the car stalls while driving, perhaps the fuel pump relay fails. I think it is possible to swap it...
I ordered our MY2004 2.5T XC70 with the H8 battery, it was still in very good condition
when whe traded in the car...13 years later!
7/172: position sensor, camshaft, intake side
7/173: sensor camshaft
They are the designations from the MY 2001 wiring diagram's component list.
