Quick update:
After verifying that all the flap doors were moving correctly, I ordered and replaced the heater core (the last link in the chain). We now have heat to spare!
So I did a bunch of poking, prodding and checking today. I checked the function of the blend doors, thinking they were bound up, had bad actuators, broken arms, or needed to be calibrated. Everything...
Update #2: I swapped out the passenger side mirror sensor (temporarily) with the drivers side sensor I thought was bad. I'm getting a reliable accurate outside temp on the display now. I let the car...
Update: I'll concede being less than knowledgeable. I popped off the cover on the underside of the passenger side mirror, and lo and behold, there is a sensor in there. Something I should have...
While I haven't taken the passenger side mirror off yet, I'm referencing this thread:

I'm pull the passenger mirror tomorrow to confirm.
From what I've read, there is only one sensor, located in the driver's side mirror. I drove it to work the day after I replaced the sensor, and it showed the "--" for the first few minutes, then it...
The temp display on our has been wonky for about a year now, in the past it has read a temperature that may or may not have been correct, or typically it has read "--". The HVAC system will run the...
Noted. Original post updated.
Thanks for the insight.
I don't have the time, patience or desire to part it out. I want it gone. I know the transmission is toast, which was the final straw. I'm not throwing any more money or time...
We're selling my wife's V70XC. It has enough issues and miles that we decided to replace it. It currently runs when it wants to (bad ETM), and it slips in reverse. I was planning on doing a...
Currently none, but recently I've been getting the P0442 catalyst efficiency code.
Went out and tried to start it today after work, it just cranked, but didn't start. If my ETM is in fact dead, I...
After many happy years and a lot of miles, our trusty V70XC (bought on '09) is dying a quick death. Currently at 204,000 miles. The ETS light has been on for, well, a LONG time, the CEL was on for so...
The car in question has 204,000 on it. The ETS light has been on for many, many miles. The CEL was on so long it burned out. That being said....
At least 3 times in the last month the car will...
We just upgraded our aging '99 V70XC to a 2006 XC90 over the weekend. What I learned when I researched was avoid the T6 at all costs. The GM-sourced transmission WILL FAIL, and isn't cheap or easy to...
Bummer.
I added a photo for reference.
Send it back!
I'll ship to Canada.

I bought this last year with the intent on replacing both control arms on my wife's '99 XC, but I only needed to replace the drivers side. I found it in the garage today, I don't need it, so I...
I have a feeling my ETM is dying on my '99 XC. I know from service records it was replaced during the Volvo 'extended warranty' recall deal, but recently I've had the ETS light come on, as well has...
Thanks, I have the procedure. I replaced the tensioner (although I think it was just way out of adjustment, and not bad), the crank had skipped a tooth. Got it properly timed, now I just need to...

All the heads on their eBay store ship for $30. No bad.
They have 30v heads for $425 complete with cams. That is an insanely good price.
I can't imagine it would cost much to ship a head. They aren't THAT big, or THAT heavy. I shipped a full tow hitch through UPS, wrapped it in foam and stuck a label on it, and it was around $25. ...
I'm in the middle of a timing belt tensioner/VVT adjustment right now, and Ozark Lee on MVS has been a MAJOR help so far. I asked the same questions here, and got no responses at all.
Wow, that doesn't seem like a bad price at all. Used heads for my Passat 30v V6 run around $1000.
Sorry you blew you tensioner, I was close to a similar situation, my tensioner was REALLY loose. ...
Thanks, guys, the car has been parked since the week of Thanksgiving, I don't plan on running it again until I get the belt issue figured out.
Someone else suggested the tensioner is improperly set...
This thread is connected with my other thread regarding OBDII codes (here), but I thought I'd start a new one with this specific question.
I checked out the timing belt situation on my wife's '99...
