You got it 8pack! good photos!
I'm assuming you got info from ecbsykes, make sense to you?

Hey Sykes,
Just responded to your message regarding retention of splined sleeve when disposing of bevel gear. Welcome to the smoother, bevel gear-less V70!
Regarding fuel pump...I just had to...
All positive. Yes, you can see the whole shaft now.
The only thing to really watch out for is the sleeve that the axle slips through. It is splined onto the output shaft and must be retained...

Showed my mechanic the posting by LookForJoe. He had it out of the car in 45 minutes. I gladly paid him the two hours he quoted. It's amazing how smooth and well-behaved these cars...
You nailed it cattle car! Not sure what happened to mine, but the gears are no longer meshing, causing that whining sound. I am having the bevel gear-ectomy this morning, not gonna replace it. AWD is...
Thanks smp, actually I found a thread explaining the whole process. You're probably right on models after 2000 or 2001. The 2000 and back can have it completely removed. Thanks for looking!
Yep! Check the front cv joint on the propshaft...classic symptom.
2000 XC, confirmed bad bevel gear. I have read several threads but want to ask...R&R seems straight forward, any special tools? Can be done in driveway on ramps? Is unit heavy? Can it be eliminated...
Look at the front cv joint of your main propshaft (the one going to the rear). Mine did that last summer, thought it was the right outer cv joint but it turned out to be the front joint on the...
Doesn't make sense...I hold down the trip odo button, turn key to position 1, and in about 10 seconds it flashes and goes off.
What was the result? I'm having the same issue...new oil trap (OEM) 9 months ago.
I bought the el cheapo radiator at FCP about a month ago, no issues, fit beautifully.
I had the same symptoms, turned out to be the front joint of the main drive shaft was shot. Remove it and your noise may go away.
I'm thinking only the o-ring needs replacing(?) I get a whiff of raw gas when stepping on gas enough to make turbo spin up. Anyone else have this experience?
Sounds to me like the fuel pump check valve...a not-uncommon symptom. JRL has a simple solution, search his posts.
If your car has had the ETM flash upgrade to 1.5, you don't need to have anything done once you get it rebuilt from someplace like xemodex. This late in the game, it's a pretty safe bet yours is...
The front O2 is the easiest one to get to...three bolts from the heat shield, slide it out of place, and there she sits.
Sounds like you've found the issue, with the MAF malfunctioning, the computer has no idea how much air is coming in thru the intake so it doesn't know how to set fuel mixture.
A stuck injector may give you a strong gas smell but would give you black smoke, not grey. Is the gas smell coming out the tail pipe? Anything else coming out of the tailpipe such as steam? Or is the...
pull your carpet back, it won't be "on" the carpet, and there can be quite a bit under the carpet without it being wet. Otherwise, look at the hose that runs to the bottom of the overflow bottle,...
sounds like a turbo...pull the hose going to intercooler, look for excessive oil.
On a 99-00, that center support bearing is not user serviceable. Look for Colorado Driveshaft's website, probably your best solution.
Propshaft is easy to remove, get yours refurbished...a new one is about $1300.
Fuel filter? A bad battery will cause flickering/dimming and will damage alternator. Put a good battery in and then have the charging system checked.
