I have 154k and mine uses 1 qt/1500 miles. Yours is definitely "normal." Just keep it topped off and you shouldn't have any problems.
Well the parts came in today. I plan on doing the job tomorrow. I'll update with what I find.
I have no idea when/if the tensioner was replaced and that is why I am doing it this time. The timing belt was done at 77k and now it has 152k so it is due. What does it take to pop that cover off?...
Well its not good. I started it up this morning with the pump disabled and it still made the noise. However, I was able to do some additional diagnosis and eliminate a few things. It is NOT the...
I just got back into town tonight. I unplugged the pump and started it up, it didn't make the noise but the car had been driven a couple hours earlier so I'm not sure the engine was cold enough....
Thanks hogie for the detailed description of the location of the connector. If unplugging the pump has no ill effects on the car I don't plan on replacing it. I can live with the light coming on now...
From what you guys are saying it sounds like the SAS. Hope so, I have to drive 600 miles with it on Friday and I am away on business until Friday so it doesn't leave much time to rectify the problem....
The noise is mostly constant does not seem to be related to rpm however it only makes the noise for the first minute or two until the car starts to warm up. I don't usually take off until the noise...
It has gotten colder here the last few weeks and my Volvo has started making a screeching/squealing noise for the first few minutes when I start it up. After it warms up the noise goes away. It...
Peanut butter works the best. I use it on all my cars. Smooth, not chunky ;)
Thanks, I'll see what I can find. Judging by the number of reads but lack or responses it doesn't look good for me.
I called my dealer today to get the sleeve between the transmission and bevel gear. The dealer said the parts aren't available separate from the transmission but that he would be happy to sell me a...
What is the orientation for the center bolt hole? Should it be mounted with the whole closer to the front of the car or closer to the rear? I didn't notice that it wasn't centered until after I...
I replaced the bushing on the top engine mount (torque strut) and it made the clunk about 50% quieter. I didn't mess with the car anymore since I wanted to spend time with family. I ended up leaving...
I was hoping that I could just pull the driveshaft. I haven't had anybody say that yes this will work and it wont further any damage. I just want to get it home and then I can look into it in more...
Lets just assume it is the bevel gear. What can be done so that I can make the 500 mile trip back home? Can I just remove the whole bevel gear housing? Can I leave the driveshafts in place? I am only...
I suspect that the bevel gear might be going but does that explain the clunk? I could drive the car from a stop to highway speeds and back down to a stop and it will only clunk one time and it is...
I looked at the upper engine mount/torque strut and found that it is starting to go. It is cracked most of the way through but not all the way. Could this worn bushing cause the drivetrain to get out...
This sounds very close to what my car is doing. What was fixed?
I haven't checked that but I will. I am going to give the whole car a "once over." I really felt it coming from under the car but it is possible that it came from the engine compartment. Stranger...
Hi guys, I'm really in a bind on this one. Due to an unexpected death in the family I had to hop in the car and make a 500 mile trip to my hometown without bringing any of my tools along....
Thanks PaperToast,
I called them and got it for $195.
Hello,
The ignition lock on my 1998 XC I starting to go. I called the dealer and they wanted $275 for it (keyed the same as the one I have now.) Has anybody found a better source? I could live with...
Hmm, well the hole in the intake manifold already had a hose going to it. I traced it back and it goes to about the same location that the one in the bundle should go to. Looks like somebody did a...
