I think you will find that the 70XC is a PERFECT vehicle for camping!

We live in Colorado and I use it extensively for mountain climbing trips that involve driving on rough rocky and muddy trails...

We are very pleased with the milage.   Usually about 26-29 mpg on road trips.  Averaged 27 this summer on 400 mile trip in mountains with lots of steep grades and off-road driving!

I like the GearTronic.  I'm normally a manual transmission type, but this car doesn't have one.  Here in the mountains, we use it quite often.  Driving on remote "roads" getting to...

If you are interested in waxing and other car care topics, I suggest a visit to Car Care Specialties.  I have been dealing wtih them for years and can give them a very high recommendation.

We use 89 octane.  Recommended by dealer.  Here at high altitude (Colorado), extra octane doesn't provide any benefit.

Haven't measured city milage, but normally get 24 to 25 mpg on...

    John ...

You've summarized the comparison between the cars very well - and I agree with your analysis.  Audi too expensive.  BMW small and lack of ground clearance.

    I have a BMW 325...

Re the question in a previous post about "Black Again".  I have used this product on the plastic trim on my BMW, and it works GREAT!  Will use it on the plastic trim my wife's XC, and sure...

    Three things come to mind:

    1)  Manual Transmission

    2)  Weather band on the radio

    3)  Capability to select individual preset radio stations without sequencing through all of...

This opinion is based on only 4 months of use and fairly low milage, but I am impressed enough to forward an opinion.  The XC is actually my wife's car.  She bought it in large part because...
