2004 XC 70 funny sound in engine and trans issue

Hello
First if someone answers these question I will thank them in advance
my car has 36000 on it and I live in Maine, and alot of snow, salt, sand etc on the road
anyway there has start a funny sound in the engine I think it is the alternator, it idles and when you start off from a standing start it makes a mild rotary sound which is not the norm
also the trans when you start at certain times it revvs up without a reason
any help
also what is a 37500 check up consist of other then oil change

An oil change may be all that is covered by the manufacturer, unless there is something else wrong as a defect.
