    Default Hey Everyone!

    Hey all,

I can't remember if I have introduced myself before as immediately after originally joining the forum, my computer crashed. Any who, my name is Mark and I recently purchased my first Volvo (a 2007 Volvo XC70). I have already began wrenching on it a little myself (due to some nightmarish shop experiences) and am looking forward to the next project.

I hope to gather the knowledge and know-how on the site to help with further endeavors.

    Thanks!
    Mark

Thanks, Jaip. Yeah it looks like the next project may be doing the timing belt, water pump, etc. It looks like there may be some valuable tips and tricks on here.

Check out the resources section for a good selection of how-to write-ups. Keep watching the forum to see what common issues are.

If you need a timing belt, be certain to do the pulleys, idler and tensioner, at the same time.

Water pump isn't really necessary unless this is the second timing belt. My original WP was still good when I did the second timing belt. I replaced it then, but they last a long time if the proper coolant is used.

    Hi Everyone

I just joined. Like 2 minutes ago and wanted to say hi to everyone. I am from Canberra, Australia. I bought a Volvo V70 XC about 4 months ago for $1200 with a mere 150,000 kms on it. It definitely needed work so I spent about $1500 and the angle gear failed. I replaced the angle gear and it has started leaking oil again. I bought a refurbished angle gear and it didn't come with a warranty. So now I need to get rego done and want to repair the vehicle. it needs new rack ends and an angle gear. What would ya'll suggest. should I spend the money on repairs or sell it as is? I like the car though.

    Thanks
    Joel
