TIme for all season/winter tires for my 07' XC 70. Going through tire rack the top choices in 215/65/16 or 235/6//16 seem to be General Altix HP, Yokohama AVID Ascend, Yoko AVID ENVigor.
Any experience with them?

Just the Altimax on these cars.
Decent, quiet, good tire for the (cheap) money

2007 V70 2.5T White/Oak, 112K miles. My daily driver and GORGEOUS
2000 V70R wife's. Won't sell, now at 148K miles !! and still (almost) perfect.
2000 S70 GLT SE with 29,000 miles!!! A time capsule, V70R front bumper, Volans, etc. SOLD!!! (I Will regret selling this!)
I put the Altimax RT on my 01 xc and it seems to be a descent tire. It made a bit of noise(not much) when I first got it, but that went away after a few hundred miles. Works well in snow, I don't drive my xc hard so I can't attest to its performance, but really, an xc is not a performance car anyway.
Toyo OpenCountry H/T on mine (new, last year).
I should have said Altimax HPs VERY quiet

Been running these for 40K miles now. My set are still in great condition, very even wear and good tread depth, had plenty of traction in the snow this winter. Will make 60K on these tires easily. Would choose again. Paid $650 installed with lifetime balance and rotation.
Thanks, 60K miles thread life sounds great. Soft the XC70 suspension is already, I would like to get tires that would not add more flex to the system. I got the car with a new set of Hankook tires that I am replacing now, They had a good thread wear, and decent in the wet and in winter, run quiet, but are somewhat soft. I would like to have something to firm up the ride and steering response, and as I already have a set of winter tires, winter performance is not that important.
