Default Rear rotors - when to replace

I've got my '05 XC70 at the dealer for 7500 miles service (52,000) and got a call that my rear brake pads and rotors need to be replaced. Somewhat not surprised for the brake pads at 52k, but rotors replacement was definitely not anticipated (not even mentioning the estimate ~$600) . The "spec" per dealer is 10.8mm and mine is at 10.7. I don't do much of city driving or over the hills.

Is it reasonable to have rear rotors be below spec at 52k?

    Thanks.

I'm replacing mine at 60k. Just order up these parts at eEuroparts.com or FCPGroton.com. No need to spend $600 at the dealer unless you feel like doing that? I spent way less than that for 4 Brembo rotors and Akebono ceramic brake pads. Really not a hard task at all to do brakes, anyone can do it in a few hours time. Or find an independent mechanic, the bill will be way less. Mine have a heavy groove at the outer edge, which told me they are not as thick as they once were.
