My 2009 XC70 is awesome in snow, with winter tyres fitted (plenty of tread) and the 4WD.
So far it's gone through everything, the only real limitation will be the ground clearance.

Are you petrol or diesel? If Diesel, a 2009 XC70 will only need filled 2/3rds of the wak up the dipstick or you will get this message:

Just had a look at the mityvac - looks pretty interesting!
However, as the drain plug is pretty easy to get at on the XC70, I would suggest there's not a lot of benefit unless you're doing a LOT...
