Hey Dubhead - please continue to post away. Regular readers of this
Forum know to ignore JRL's frequent childish rants.
I have BFG A/T TAs on my FJ40 Land Cruiser. They are stunning in snow/mud/dirt/gravel,
fair on ice...and noisy, squirmy, and rough on pavement.

In Colorado's front range, winter fuels have a higher proportion of
ethanol than summer fuels (winter = E10 = 10% ethanol). This
is done to reduce smog. The trade-off is that ethanol has a lower...
Also - if your alarm system has a motion sensor, you'll need to disable that.

Is the oil leak from the turbo itself, or at the connection of the oil lines
to the turbo? If the latter, then the turbo itself might be okay. Small
oil leaks near the turbo, or at that...
That's great news. Our 2001 is at 104k and non-maintenance expenses,
so far, have been really low: less than $500 total. (By non-maintenance
I mean excluding routine scheduled maintenance and...
I just installed 4 on my 2001 XC. $623 US total. No challenging weather yet
though - hope to see that soon!

You can definitely do this yourself, but it's harder than it should be...tight
clearances in there, and small fingers are handy. Just be sure to look
carefully at how the old one is...
Just installed 4 Goodyear Assurance TripleTred, to replace the Pirelli Scorpion
STRs that were down to the wear bars after 42k miles. First impressions:
quieter than the (worn) STRs. No snow or...
BLUE - Thanks for letting us know about this!

My Pirelli Scorpion STXs are almost to the wear bars, so I'll need
new tires before the first snow flies (which usually happens in early
October around here). I've read (mostly) glowing reports on...
Fair enough. Good to hear that you like your Michelins. The point is that,
all else equal, higher speed ratings probably mean better handling. But
all else is never equal - especially for tyres....
An old thread, I know...but I just learned something that might be of value.
A tire guy I trust said that higher speed ratings come in large part from
stiffer sidewalls. So getting a lower speed...
Check the coolant reservoir for cracks and the connecting hoses/clamps for leaks.
Isomaki - there are two questions here:
(1) Should you use ATF for power steering, and
(2) If so, what type of ATF should you use?
If you do a search on this site, you'll find a number of...
The extended warranty varies by model year and by component.
The owner's manual explains all...if you have yours, take a look.

What's the evidence/problem that you are trying to solve? In what
ways is the AWD not working?
A brief cross-cultural clarification: 'torch' = flashlight = small, battery-powered
light, no open flame.
If you're concerned about ice, you might want to consider studded tires.
They are noisy, rougher-riding, and probably less grippy on dry roads,
but much better on ice.

One thing to check would be the alternator/charging system.
Some error lights/messages are triggered by low voltages.
Hook up a voltmeter and see what you get at idle and at
higher RPMs.

Have you checked the fuel cap?
remove, reattach, see if the light goes off...

90k on engine and tranny, no problems. Changing trans. fluid
every 30k or so. We'll see....

It seems there are as many tire opinions as there are posters...
here's mine: the STs were very noisy; STRs much quieter with
fine on-road wet and dry performance. I'm on my second
set of STRs. ...
The price sounds fair but the long list of receipts sounds alarming.
Is there any reason to think that past behavior (which sounds, from
your description, like frequent and expensive repairs) is...
If your alarm system has a motion detector, you'll need to disable
that of course.
