Ed,
Never thought I'd like my XC60 as much as I do. Right about 100,000 miles on this one. It's going to one of my kids, and I'll get another one.
You can order colors that are available only in Europe if you do an OSD, but that's it.
I've had the Conti's and the Pirelli's. The Conti's didn't give me as good of wear as I expected and the Pirelli's are loud. I've been using Goodyear TripleTreds on the last couple of changes.
2010 XC60, 59,000 miles. Developed a whine in the rear. Really noticeable when decelerating. I thought maybe wheel bearings, but the Dealer's Tech said rear Haldex. Replaced that...still whines. ...
I'll throw in a different approach.
Try the XC60 before you decide on another 70. After 3 XC70's I decided on the new crossover. LOVE IT!
Just get the Volvo sub. It's plug and play and installs over your spare tire. Drastically improved sound. I've installed 2 with no problems.
Bud is dead on. I would NEVER make the final decision for my wife's vehicle. After 38 years of marriage, I've discovered that I can't live on half.
After 3 xc70's, I went with an xc60. Really, really like it. Roomier than the 70's in both the front and back seats. I like the 60's visibility and driving position. Also....easier to get the...
I bought a Volvo hitch for my XC60 online and had Uhaul install it. Hitch was around $200 and the install was $60. It's for my bike rack, so I didn't have it wired.
I'm assuming you already have cross bars for up top. If yes, then the Yakima & Thule are comparable. Just depends on what size you want. If you're going to also carry bikes up there, go with the...
I always buy the best tire available. Like you, I don't want to change over to winter tires, and we get a bunch of snow out here on the Plains. Best tire I've found so far is Goodyear's Assurance...
It's a Torx 30 Security. Needs a long shaft. Home Depot carries a set.
Got 60K on a set of Goodyear Assurance Triple Treads. Expensive, but I drive lots of miles. really good snow traction & quiet.
Depends on what you want to spend, how many bikes you want to carry and how you want to hold the bike. Both Yakima & Thule products will fit. I prefer holding bikes by the tires, rather than...
I got everything this time on my XC60. I like the PCC better that I thought I would. I end up just leaving it in my pocket, instead of using the dash holder. I really like the fact that you can...
I'm a firm believer in Click & Clack's advice-- the cheapest car to own is the car you own. If you let economics be your guide, you'll drive it until the tranny shells, or you need $2500+ repairs. ...
Under the Clean Air Act, the US must use at least 15 billion gallons of ethanol this year. Total gas/ethanol consumption will range from 140 to 150 billion gallons, depending on the economy.
In...
Vote #2 for the T6. Love the additional ponies. I got all the electronics on this on (XC60 this time), BLIS, adaptive cruise, rear camera, sensors, etc. Like them so much that I'm ready to rotate...
You're in Mason City? Borton in Minneapolis & Golden Valley aren't very far from you. Plus there is Willis in Des Moines and Gorges in Omaha. Tons of Volvos around the Twin Cities-- all those...
Nope. Same deal. I just leave the key in my pocket rather than in the "slot" on the dash.
Anybody ever put one of these on a 2007 XC70? If so, what brand and how difficult?
Replacing the tail light bulbs are worse. Got to have small hands and long, skinny arms. Unfortunately, I have neither.
Glad you're interested in the 2002. This series of xc70's are great cars. The later you can go in this series (to 2007) the better. Also, make sure the timing belt has been changed. Take JRL's...
I've had everything-- roof, hitch, fork mount, clap, etc. Right now I'm using a Thule 916XT hitch mounted rack for 2 bikes. I add Thule's 2 bike add on when I'm hauling 4. Premium racks that are...
