I have the same issue on my 2000 XC70...the release handle, cable and latch all still work but I seem to have lost a spring at some point that bumps the hood up against the safety latch when you pull...
Sounds like you're getting the "BMW upcharge" on the Maaco service. I had a VW painted a few years ago and opted for their best, most inclusive service and the whole deal only ran me $800. Car looked...
Ah, ok...I just needed to know that the bulb is replaceable before I try to separate those two pieces. Some initial, gentle prying tells me that these two pieces are tightly pressed together, so I...
Hello all!
Just wondering...is it possible to replace the bulb in the dashboard switch that controls the MPG/miles/etc. display? It's sandwiched between the circuit board and a white plastic...
BEJ, each of my rear shoulder belts has 2 buttons...one to prevent the clip from sliding down too far (bottom button) and one to prevent the belt from being sucked into the seat back when you fold it...
Good advice! I never do, and even leave the key for our other car at home. In general, the V70 XC key is the only chip key on my ring when I'm driving that car.
A search found a lot of others...
Hello all,
I saw this referenced in another post and didn't want to hijack that thread, but do have a question about this.
My 2000 V70XC has this annoying, intermittent issue: every once in a...
Have any of you tried IPD's higher output coils? For $49 a pop they seem to be priced right (the replacement coil from the local Volvo place was $80 for the part). Just wondering if they're any...
Good point...I thought that might be one way to go, but aside from the misfire I was worried about P1618 indicating a tranny issue. I'm just happy to have it resolved now. Perhaps I'll replace the...
You guys rock! JRL, I used a plastic snap kit to make new plastic buttons, and everything works as it should now. Thanks again!

Ah, thanks for that...the missing buttons makes total sense. With the buttons there the belt would never retract beyond the point at which they'd lay normal with the seat back in the upright...
replaced the engine and cabin air filters
replaced the oil and oil filter
replaced the ABS unit
replaced the spark plugs
replaced the fuel filter

Hello all,
Just wanted to follow up with what happened to be the resolution of my issue. I'm guessing that the P1618 code was caused by the original ABS module failure, and that my cheap-o code...
Hello all,
Car is a 2000 V70 XC.
Have any of you ever experienced this issue: you fold down the seat back for the rear seat and the seat belt mechanisms take up the slack...but then don't let...
I came out to the same thing once...a tulip magnolia tree had dropped a huge branch on top of our V70 XC, acrodd the windshield. But amazingly, the branch made the most contact on the A pillars and...
Just wondering...so you see any kind of coil spring to pop up the hood when you pull the release lever? On my car the hood wont pop up, and sometimes it takes a while just to get the hood open. Sorry...
Sorry to resurrect an old post, but I was wondering...did you ever fix this problem? I'm having the same issue on my 2000 V70 XC - the CEL is on, the car is throwing code P1618, but the car drives...
Thanks for the info, Bill!
So those two units are right next to each other...someone had suggested I remove them, clean the contacts, and reinstall them, but I lack the special tool for doing so....
Hello all,
Before I start, here's what I drive: 2000 V70 XC with about 150K miles.
OK, here's my issue...I'm getting a recurring CEL caused by error P1618. If I clear the error using either my...
Hmmm, good point, DMD...never thought of that. I was going for the symmetric look, but maybe I wont bother for the reason you mentioned. Thanks!

Hello all,
Do any of you have recommended sources for VADIS DVD's that I can install on my laptop to access repair info for my 2000 V70XC (and ideally for our 2010 XC90 as well)? I bought one on...
Hello all,
My wife and I are getting used to our new XC90, and really love it so far. One question popped up this past weekend: is there any way to enable the bumper-embedded rear fog light to...
Hello all,
This is minor stuff, I know...a number of the dashboard switches (e.g. rear window defroster, foglights, etc.) on our 2000 V70XC have burned out bulbs. Does anyone know how to extract...
I have the same issue sometimes (generally at around 45 degrees F) with our 2000 V70 XC (which we think is also an SE from the VIN), and Rabbit's technique is what I've always used. My wife doesn't...
My wife and I recently experienced the same thing on the way through the mountains in Virginia...we live in the DC area where it's pretty flat and didn't experience the issue until some sustained...
