Default 2001 XC70 Broken LF Interior Door Handle/Panel

Interior door handle has broken. Dealer says I have to replace the entire door panel, $$$ ouch! Does anyone know if it can be fixed without replacing the entire door panel? If so how?

If not, trying to find a used replacement but need to match the color. It appears from looking at some websites, there are three colors for a door panel. They are listed by color and not code (Gray, Beige, or Oak). My Volvo has an interior color code of B951. Does anyone know if that is oak or beige or is it the same with just different colored trim?

The door handle? You can just unscrew it from the back, and take the 2 screws off that secure the door panel through the handle, and it comes right off. So I'm guessing you can find a used one and put it on

I have done multiple searches on the internet including Ebay. I can not find an interior door handle replacement, new or used. They seem to be available for the 2000 or older models but not the 2001. I have seen the same issue on another Volvo forum and the solution was to replace the interor panel.

I would call Erie Vovo - not surf the web...call them...and ask the question.

They part out these things..they would know...and if there is a part you can buy (handle only or whole panel) they are likely the best source.

    Cheers

What color is your handle? theres a 2001 parts car in the classified section that may possibly have one.

And im positive you dont have to replace the whole interior panel, because the handle broke on my S60 and its just 3 screws to get it out

Interior color code B951 is light sand/beige. Seamus is correct, the hand grip is replaceable. There are actually two torx screws holding the panel in place against the door itself. If you carefully pry off the cover, you will see them.

Any idea where the door grip is busted? Just trying to figure out the techs reasoning behind why the entire door panel needs to be replaced.

Those are great pics Art - thanks.

Funny how ambiguous the word "handle" is. I thought he meant handle as in "the thing you pull to open the door latch" and you thought he meant "the thing you pull to close the door"....I wonder which is broken...

Lol and it's funny how the latch is broken in the xc, and the handle you pull the door closed with is broken on my S60. If the latch is broken, you have to replace the whole door panel. I'm a pro at these doors bow since I've taken them off both cars at least 10 times!

    Kudos Astro,

Perhaps it's me that is confused. I think you have interpreted his post correctly.
Now that I have had some time to consider the problem, your suggestion about the door opener? makes more sense as it is attached to the panel. Also VADIS does not show it as a separate part.
